Images and media

Which images work best, how to deliver them, and what we do if you don't have your own images.

Updated 23 June 2026

Images shape the first impression of your website. Good images build trust; poor or generic ones do the opposite. Here's what you need to know.

Your own photos beat stock images

Real photos of your premises, your team, your products or the work you've done make a far stronger impression than glossy stock images. They don't need to be taken by a pro – a good phone camera in daylight goes a long way.

Tips for your own photos:

  • Use daylight and avoid cluttered backgrounds.
  • Shoot in landscape (horizontal) where you can – it fits best on the web.
  • Send the originals, not screenshots or compressed versions.

Don't have your own images?

That's perfectly fine. We have access to professional stock images and select ones that suit your industry and tone. Many sites combine your own photos where it matters (team, premises) with stock images elsewhere.

We optimise everything for the web

You don't need to think about file sizes or formats. We compress and convert your images to modern, fast formats so the page loads quickly without losing quality. Large, unoptimised images are one of the most common reasons websites are slow – something you won't have to worry about with us.

Logo and graphics

The logo is handled a little separately – see Logo and visual identity. If you have other graphics (icons, illustrations, brochures), feel free to send them and we'll see what we can use.

What about video?

Video can lift a page, but also slow it down if done wrong. If you have video you'd like to use, we'll have a chat about the best way to embed it – usually via a streaming service, so performance stays high.
