Google Business Profile

In short

Google Business Profile is the free listing that shows your business in Google Maps and Search, with address, opening hours and reviews.

The profile was called Google My Business until Google renamed it in 2021. It is the box that appears when someone searches for your company name, and it is what shows on the map when people search for a service nearby. You create and manage it yourself with a Google account, and it costs nothing.

Often the first thing customers see

For many local businesses, the profile is the first thing customers see, before they even open the website. That is where they check opening hours, call directly and read reviews. If the opening hours are wrong, you may have lost the customer before you knew they existed. The profile is also the foundation of local SEO.

It is made for businesses that meet their customers, either at a premises or out at the customer's location. Businesses that only sell online cannot get one, according to Google.

How to check your own

Search for your company name on your phone. Are the address, phone number, opening hours and web address correct? Do the photos show what it actually looks like at your place? Are there reviews you have not replied to? Fix whatever is wrong today. If you want to go into more depth, we have a guide to Google Business Profile.
