Google Search Console
In short
Google Search Console is a free tool from Google that shows which searches your website appears for, and whether Google can read your pages.
Google calls it a free service for monitoring your site's presence in search. You can see which search terms bring impressions and clicks, what position you hold, and which pages Google has left out of the index. You also get an email when Google finds errors.
How it differs from Google Analytics
Google Analytics shows what people do after they arrive on your website. Search Console shows what happens in Google before the click. You do not need the tool to be found, but it is the only place where Google tells you how it sees your site.
How to get access
Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in with a Google account. You have to prove that you own the site. Google describes the methods: a DNS record with your domain provider gives access to the whole domain, while an HTML file, a line of code on the front page or an existing Google Analytics account is enough for a single address.
If you do not manage DNS or the website yourself, the route is simpler. Ask whoever runs your website to add your Google account under Users and permissions in Search Console. Ask to be an owner, not just a user. That way you keep access if you change provider.
