Set up email on phone and PC

Step by step for connecting your Ibenta email to Outlook, Apple Mail and the email app on your phone via IMAP.

Updated 23 June 2026

Want to read your email in a program instead of webmail? Then you use IMAP. Here's a general recipe – you'll get the exact server settings from us when the mailbox is set up.

What you need before you start

  • Your email address (for example [email protected])
  • The password for the mailbox
  • The server settings we've sent you: incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server, plus port numbers

You'll always find these in the setup email from us. If you've lost it, get in touch and we'll send them again.

General setup (applies to most programs)

  1. Open the email program and choose to add an account.
  2. Choose account type IMAP (not POP – IMAP keeps everything synced across your devices).
  3. Enter the email address and password.
  4. Fill in the incoming server (IMAP) and outgoing server (SMTP) with the ports we've provided.
  5. Make sure SSL/TLS is on for both – it encrypts the connection.
  6. Finish, and send yourself a test email to check that both sending and receiving work.

Phone (iPhone / Android)

  • iPhone: Settings → Apps → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account. Choose IMAP when asked.
  • Android (Gmail app): Settings → Add account → Other (Personal, IMAP).

Outlook and Apple Mail (PC/Mac)

  • Outlook: File → Add Account → enter the email address → choose advanced / IMAP if you're asked for account type.
  • Apple Mail: Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other Mail Account → IMAP.

Common errors

  • "Cannot verify account" – double-check server names, ports and that SSL is on.
  • Receives, but can't send – almost always an error in the SMTP settings (outgoing server). Check the port and that "outgoing server requires authentication" is on.
  • Wrong password – the mailbox password is not the same as the password for other services. Use the one we sent you.

If you're stuck, we're happy to help you through the setup – just get in touch.
