UX
User experience
In short
UX is what it is like to use your website: whether people find what they are looking for, understand what they read and get done what they came for.
UX is less about colours and more about friction. It is about how many clicks it takes to book an appointment, whether the price is where the customer looks for it, and whether it is clear what a button does before you press it. A site can look good and still be hard work to use.
Why you rarely notice it yourself
You rarely spot poor UX on your own site. You know it too well and know where everything is. Your customers do not, and they rarely tell you when they give up. They just leave, and it shows up as a low conversion rate.
Good UX is often a little boring, in a good way. The menu uses the words people expect, like "Prices" and "Contact", not "Our journey". The button says what happens, like "Book an appointment", not "Submit".
Test with one person today
Ask someone who does not know your website to solve one specific task, for example finding out what an appointment costs and booking it. Sit next to them and do not help. Note where they hesitate, what they click by mistake and what they say out loud. Five minutes with one real user teaches you more than an hour of going through the site yourself.
