# Contact form

A contact form is a form on your website where visitors enter their name, email and a message, which is then sent straight to your inbox.

A contact form lowers the threshold for getting in touch. The visitor does not have to open an email program, copy the address and think up a subject line. They write a few lines and press send. The enquiry lands in your inbox as an ordinary email, and each one is a potential [lead](/en/glossary/lead).

## Fewer fields, lower threshold

Every field you add is a reason not to bother. Name, email or phone, and a message are enough for most. Ask about budget, address and organisation number later, once the conversation is under way.

An open form also attracts bots that fill it with junk. A good spam filter stops them without forcing real people to click on traffic lights. And because the form collects personal data, your [privacy policy](/en/glossary/privacy-policy) should say what you do with it. How we set up forms is described in [Contact form](/en/docs/contact-form).

## Send yourself a test today

Open the website on your phone, fill in the form as a customer would and send it. Did the email arrive within a couple of minutes? Check your spam folder too. If nothing came, the form is not necessarily broken. The message may have been caught in a filter, or sent to an old address nobody reads. Tell whoever runs the website, and repeat the test every time something changes.
