# B2B and B2C

B2B means you sell to other businesses. B2C means you sell to private individuals. Many businesses do both.

An electrician can work for a homeowner one day and for a housing cooperative the next. The job is the same, but the purchase is different. A private individual often decides alone and quickly. A business often has several people who need to say yes, wants a quote on paper and pays by invoice. That is why the two groups often need different pages, different arguments and a different [customer journey](/en/glossary/customer-journey).

## The rules are not the same

Private individuals have rights that businesses do not. [The Cancellation Act (angrerettloven)](https://lovdata.no/dokument/NL/lov/2014-06-20-27) (in Norwegian) applies only when a trader sells to a consumer, and as a main rule gives 14 days to cancel purchases made online, by phone or away from business premises.

Prices must also be shown differently. [Section 3 of the Price Information Regulations (prisopplysningsforskriften)](https://lovdata.no/dokument/SF/forskrift/2012-11-14-1066) (in Norwegian) says that every price you give to consumers must include VAT (mva). When selling to businesses, it is common to quote prices without VAT.

## Check your website

If you sell to both, that should be obvious at once. Look at your front page: can a private customer and a purchasing manager each tell where to click? Check that the prices private customers see include VAT. Also check that it says clearly which prices exclude VAT, so no [target audience](/en/glossary/target-audience) gets a surprise.
